Stephen Curry, the two-time NBA MVP and six-time All-Star for the Golden State Warriors, has expressed his interest in playing professional baseball at some point in his career.
In an interview with The Athletic, Curry talked about his love for the game of baseball and how he would like to test himself in a different sport.
«I’ve thought about it. I actually talked about it a lot as a kid in terms of just my love for the game and what that would mean for my dad (former NBA player Dell Curry) if I got to follow in his footsteps,» Curry said.
Curry’s father, Dell, played professional baseball in the Toronto Blue Jays organization before switching to basketball.
Curry also mentioned that he has discussed the idea with his wife, Ayesha, who supports him in pursuing his dream.
«I’ve got to keep the skill sharp just in case I get the call,» Curry joked.
While Curry has focused on basketball throughout his career, he did play baseball in high school and was a standout player. He was even selected in the 2002 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers but chose to attend college and pursue basketball instead.
Curry’s interest in baseball has continued to grow over the years, and he has participated in several celebrity softball games and events.
Although it is unlikely that Curry will pursue a professional baseball career at this point in his life, it is clear that his love for the game remains strong. Perhaps we will see Curry trade in his basketball sneakers for a pair of cleats in the future.
